On May 2, part of the Nevada boys varsity track team competed at the Heart of Iowa Conference meet at Greene County.
“I thought, for the most part, we competed well at the HOIC meet,” said Coach John Pelzer.
The team broke three Heart of Iowa Conference records at the meet. They broke the shuttle hurdle record with a relay team of Om’Unique Wilkerson, Sam Abraham, Luke Merfeld, and Jakob Strottman in a time of 1:00.96.
The 4×200 team of Brendan Sellberg, Jakob Strottman, Rodrigo Perez, and Joven Nelson broke the HOIC record with a time of 1:30.82.
The 800 sprint medley relay team of Brendan Sellberg, Preston Cattanach, Rodrigo Perez, and Joven Nelson broke the HOIC record with a time of 1:35.57.
Following the records, some top three performances were Malachi Hornbuckle, third in the 800m dash with a time of 2:09:87 and second in the 3200m run with a time of 10:15:60.
