On December 18, the Nevada 8th grade girls basketball team went head to head against North Polk. The night ended with a win, 24-19. That sets the Cubs’ record at 7-3.
Cary Thompson, the head 8th grade girls coach, was asked about the game. He said, “In the (A) game I tried many different presses to give the girls more experience. A big game changing play was Hannah Walderna’s huge three to put the Cubs up by 5. The leading scorers where Alex Arnaud with 8 points, Elie Tuhn with 5 points, Maddie Dunham 4 points, Ella Higgins 2 points, and Mayzy Weig 1 point.”
“In the (B) game the girls played hard and had really good offensive drops with a mix of back door cuts. The Cubs got a great win, final score was 13-8. The leading scorers were Briar Crain with 4 points, Tessa Borwick, Makayla Spaid, and Sammie Herridge with 2 points, and Savannah Skaggs with 1 point.”
On Thursday, December 21, the Cubs play their last game of the season at home against the Roland-Story Norsemen. Tip off is at 4:30. Go Cubs!
