On Friday December 8th, the Nevada boys basketball team played an outstanding game against a very talented Gilbert team. After a long, hard fight until the end, the results of the game landed in the Cubs favor. The final score was 70-61, with the help of Luke Merfeld with 23 points, Trent Stahl with 15, and Jack Higgins with 12.
Gilbert had the lead for most of the game. They had a couple shooters that seemed like they couldn’t miss. After making some adjustments going into the second half, the Cubs improved their defense and were able to outscore the Tigers 23-6 in the fourth quarter, after getting outscored themselves, 47-55 in the first three quarters.
“We showed a lot of heart closing out the game the way we did and I was very proud of the effort by the guys,” said Coach Hinson.
