The boys track team ran at Madrid on April 16th and placed second.
Joven Nelson won gold in the 100 meter dash and in the 400 meter hurdles.
Caeden Da Silva finished second in the 200 meter dash
Carter Franson finished third in the 400 meter dash. Dalton Baker got second in the two mile rrun.
Ethan Wild won the Discus event with a throw of 119-02.
Myleek Wilkerson jumped 5-10.00 in the high jump and got second due to a draw.
Sam Abraham got first in the long jump.
The 4×100 meter team of Da Silva, Dylan Jensen, Jakob Strottman, and Nelson got second with a time of 44.75.
The 4×200 meter team of Da Silva, Abraham, Strottman, and Nelson won gold while running a 1:31.9.
“We had a great team performance at Madrid, finishing second out of eight teams,” Coach John Pelzer said. “Joven Nelson, Caeden DaSilva, and Carter Franzen were strong in the sprints finishing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 100, 200, and 400 respectively. Dalton Baker was second in the 3200. Joven Nelson won the 400 low hurdles.”
“A highlight of the night was the 4×200 meter relay team of Caeden DaSilva, Sam Abraham, Jakob Strottman, and Joven Nelson,” said Coach Pelzer. “They ran a season best time of 1:31.87, virtually guaranteeing another trip to the Drake Relays. Sam Abraham and Ethan Wild were strong in the field events, winning the long jump and the discus respectively. I’m very pleased where we are at after this meet!”
