On Monday, April 29, the Nevada varsity girls soccer team traveled to Pella. The Cubs, a 1A school, faced a one-loss 2A team in the Dutch. But, a motivated Pella squad was seeking revenge to a 1-0 loss from the previous year, and Nevada lost 2-1.
The Dutch scored two goals early by Grace Held and Macy Schulz. Hannah Tompsen scored the only goal for the Nevada girls. Erica Sporrer had 14 saves in the game against the Dutch.
Coach Randy Davis said, “It was a really good game against a quality opponent. Our girls fought hard creating several opportunities to pull even. These are the games we look forward to, and challenge us. It is not about winning. It is about getting better.”
The girls plays again on Saturday, May 11th, at Cubs Stadium.
