The Nevada girls soccer team played at Iowa Falls on Friday, April 5. The girls started off slow but managed to pick up the pace and concentrate on finishing. They managed to maintain a lead the whole game scoring four and holding Iowa Falls to zero.
“We had several opportunities to score in the first half: I think 11 shots on goal in the first 30 minutes,” said Coach Randy Davis. ”They were in good position, and it just seemed we were rushing the final pass or the final shot. Once we settled down in the second half and concentrated on our finishing we were able to put four goals in the net and control the game.”
Tessa Borwick scored two goals, Mayzi Weig scored one and Addi Vorm scored one. Erica Sporrer had three saves.
“I think what stood out the most, was how it was a team effort. The offense was doing a good job but couldn’t make that final pass or shot. The defense was gaining confidence and consistency controlling the back while the offense was figuring out how to penetrate Iowa Falls defense.”
The Cubs had many opportunities and fought hard through the whole game. The girls soccer team plays next on Friday, April 19 at Collins-Maxwell.
