On Friday, April 5th, the boys varsity soccer team played Kuemper Catholic in Carroll. The Cubs got their first win of the season with a score of 4-1.
The players who scored were Jose Buenrrostro with two goals, Taylor Maiefski and Anthony Ellis with one goal each. Buenrrostro also tallied up two assists.
“I thought we played a very good game,” said Head Coach Todd Sampson. “We controlled most of the game and had a lot of scoring opportunities. Our defensive players are continuing to improve in our new formation and have been doing a great job. Devin See and Kody Kruschwitz continue to be anchors in the middle of the field for us, and their ability to control this area of the field is vital to our success.”
Gage Maiefski also contributed largely to the win for the Cubs, blocking four of the Knights’ shots on goal.
The Cubs will play again on April 12th, at home against Waverly-Shell Rock.
