Led by freshman Elie Tuhn, the varsity girls basketball team had an outstanding final road conference game against South Hamilton on Tuesday, February 5. The Cubs won 39-34.
Coach Jordan Bentley reflected on the play of the Cubs: “Our game at South Hamilton – we played really well the entire game. We only committed nine turnovers which was an improvement from the night before.”
Nevada had a rough start in the first quarter when they only scored four points. In the second quarter, the Cubs stepped up their game and scored 14 points to South Hamilton’s two points.
During the third quarter the Cubs were limited to seven points while South Hamilton scored 10. In the final quarter of the game, Nevada scored 14 points to seal the win.
The leading scorer was Tuhn who had five three pointers and ended the game with 19 total points. Sydney Mosinski had 12 points and Makayla Long had eight points.
The leading rebounders for the Cubs were Mosinski with seven rebounds and Long with six.
The Cubs wrapped up their season on Saturday, February 9 with a game against Clarion Goldfield Dows.
