The JV boys basketball team lost an intense game to South Hamilton, 51-65, on Monday night, February 4th, in Jewell.
The Cubs had an close game with South Hamilton that night, but the Cubs couldn’t stop certain players for the Hawks which hurt them. At the end of the first half the Hawks had a slight lead of 34-28 on the Cubs.
“I’m liking our shot selection, and our shots are falling, we just need to do a better job sticking tight to certain players, not allowing them to get the ball,” said Coach Greg Baethke.
Starting off the second half, South Hamilton came out storming and started to sneak past the Cubs.
“The Hawks were getting very scrappy with their play, both offensively and defensively. I just felt like they kept getting away with some fouls that probably should have been called,” said Baethke.
Last night Henry Nelson had another big night inside. South Hamilton struggled to contain him on defense, and he led the Cubs with 19 points. Also Jarrett Fredin had a big night inside. He had some big buckets and scored ten points.
The Cubs’ next game is against Boone on the road Monday, February 11th.
