The JV boys basketball team lost a close one to PCM, 54-58, on Monday night, January 21st, at Monroe
The Cubs had an intense battle with PCM that night. The teams went back and forth with each other, trading basket after basket. But at the end of the first half, the Cubs had a well-earned lead of 25-17.
“They were feeling pretty comfortable with their shots and I was really liking the shot selection,” said Coach Greg Baethke.
Starting off the second half, PCM came out storming and started to shave away the Cubs’ lead.
“Our shots just stopped falling and they had two kids that we couldn’t stop,” said Coach Baethke.
Henry Nelson had a big night inside. PCM struggled to contain him on defense, and he led the Cubs with 22 points. Also Chase Lycke had a big night from the outside. He sank four three pointers and scored 18 points.
The Cubs’ next game is against South Hamilton, Monday, February 4, in Jewell.
