On Thursday, January 17, the Nevada 8th grade team took on a conference foe at the middle school fieldhouse. The Cubs played a hard fought game, but fell short to the Greene County Rams, 24-30.
Karter Beving led Nevada with 12 points and had half of the Cubs’ points. Carson Mather and Cade Knop both had five points.
“We started off a little slow defensively,” said Coach Brook Thompson. “We also gave up a few easy buckets in the first half. The boys fought hard in the second half and never gave up. The defensive intensity allowed a late comeback attempt.”
Karter Beving added, “One thing we did well was that we played to the very end. We were down double digits at half and then brought it back within a couple points in the closing minutes.”
The Cubs play at Roland Story on February 4.
