On Thursday, December 20, the Nevada girls JV basketball team played the Trojans of West Marshall at home. The girls played a great game, beating the Trojans 27-17. The Cubs have now moved to 4-2 on the year.
Some key players to the Cubs’ success include sophomore Kayla Dunson, the leading scorer with 16 points, and sophomore Hannah Fritz, the second leading scorer with five points. Hannah Waldara and and Taylor Conrad had two points each, and Ella Higgins and Briar Crain had one point each.
The Cubs started slow in the game, being down 3-6 after the first. They gained some steam and went up against the Trojans 17-11 after the second.
After half time, the Cubs came back out strong, and the end of the third score was 24-13. The Cubs held on for a 27-17 win.
The Cubs’ schedule will resume after winter break.
