The girls varsity basketball team played a hard-fought game on Saturday, December 15, against Ballard at home. The girls started the game with very little energy because there were low numbers, but they were able to create their own energy as the game went on.
“We struggle to take care of the basketball on offense, which led to limited shot opportunities, and we need to be ready to go at the start of the game. But we did play great defense the entire game,” said Coach Jordan Bentley.
The team’s defense was a key part of their game, and it was able to hold Ballard to only 15 points in the second half. They were also able to break the press, and it helped them limit the Bomber’s play in many ways. Kacie Rewerts led the team with six points, and Addi Vorm and Mikayla Long both had five.
The Cubs hope to continue their great defense and improve other aspects of their game. They play their next game at Wells Fargo in Des Moines on Tuesday, December 18, against Greene County.
