The Nevada Cub’s JV basketball team battled it out with the North Polk Comets on Tuesday, December 11, and it ended up being a big win for the Cubs, 52-34.
During the first half of the game, it was a battle for the Cubs. As both of the teams were trading points back and forth. Neither team could gain more than a two point lead. At half time, the Cubs were on top with a 25-24 lead.
The second half was where Nevada started to shine.
“In the second half we played well on both ends of the floor, but our defensive play was the biggest momentum swing,” said Coach Greg Baethke.
In the third quarter, Nevada was able to capitalize with their good defense and offense, making a 15-10 run. The Cubs then held the Comets scoreless through the fourth quarter. This made the final score 52-34. The Cubs showed a lot of improvement throughout the game
This win makes the JV Cubs 4-2 on the season.
They play Greene County at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Tuesday, December 18.
