On Monday, November 19, Nevada’s 7th grade A and B teams took on South Hamilton in Jewell.
Nevada’s A team fell short against South Hamilton, losing 35-20. They faced a zone for the first time this season and had difficulties adjusting offensively. South Hamilton pulled ahead early, due to Nevada’s lack of urgency on defense. Once the Cubs figured what to do on offense, they were able to play much more competitively and get better shots off.
Coach Corey Long said that they struggled a bit with their rebounding and will continue to work on that during the following practices.
Coach Long said, “Overall, I thought this was a good learning experience for our girls. We played a really good South Hamilton team that challenged us in all aspects of the game.”
The B team was able to dominate the court during their game, winning 35-7. In the B game, the girls did a much better job of running the offense and earning easy baskets. Offensively, Nevada’s team did a nice job of moving the ball around allowing multiple girls to contribute to the score. They were also able to do a nice job defensively.
The next 7th grade girls match-up will be against Roland-Story at home on Thursday, November 29.
