On Monday, October 15 the JV football team traveled to Union to take on the Knights. The Cubs lost a close battle 14-17.
The Cubs were trailing at half due to some big plays they gave up and some injuries to their offense. After half the Cubs turned the intensity up and did not let the Knights score again the rest of the game.
The Cubs finally scored a rushing touchdown on a long drive and some great plays by multiple players. Defense had another great stop. Offense scored another touchdown on a long pass play from Jordan Barrett.
In the final minutes, the Cubs executed an onside kick, giving the Cubs a chance to drive down and take the lead. But turnover on downs lead the Cubs to a heartbreaking loss.
The Cubs ended the year 2-3, but they battled hard all year.
“The experience that the players got from this JV season not only will help them in the future, but also attributed to a lot of players getting called up to play and even start at the varsity level this season,” said Coach Tyler Struck.
The future looks good for the Cubs next season. Coach Struck and Coach Sampson want to thank the players for their hard work in practices and in games.
