On November 14th, the 8th grade girls basketball team traveled to Gilbert. They played in a tough game and ended up losing 19-30. Their record is now 1-1.
They had very good help side defense and ball pressure throughout the game. The thing that ended up changing the game was their press breaker not working which lead to many turnovers and transition points. Overall they did well, but Coach Thompson wants to work on their press breaker before their next game.
Their leading scorer was Ella Higgins with six points. Other people who scored include Maddie Dunham with four points, Tessa Borwick with three points, and Elie Tuhn and Hannah Waldera both with two points.
The B game for the 8th grade girls went more smoothly when they won 21-16. The girls had great man to man defense which lead to a lot of transition scoring. Their leading scorer was Savannah Skaggs with six points. Other contributors were Hannah Waldera with four points, Mikayla Spaid with three points, and Peyton Hanson, Alex Arnaud, and Sarah Miller with two points.
The team will now have to get prepared to take on South Hamilton next week which will be their last game before Thanksgiving break.
