The 2019-2020 Nevada wrestling team has two volunteer coaches for the season. One of them is Kyle Baker from Mediapolis.
Everyday after work, Coach Baker comes from Ames to Nevada. Kyle loves the sport of wrestling and is a great influence on the team. He is always holding high standards for the wrestlers and is always pushing them to work harder. Kyle himself wrestles the kids and works out with them. There are days he will come out of practice drenched in sweat just like the rest of the team. Kyle was also a coach last year but is way more involved this year.
“The reason I came is because I love the sport of wrestling and I will volunteer to coach it wherever,” said Baker. “I knew Coach Ferguson, and he gave me the opportunity to come and help the team out, and I was ready to get started.”
“The kids, they work really hard and they are willing to learn and try new things. They are also really fun to wrestle with because they will push me just as hard as I push them, and that’s really cool.”
Kyle knows everything a little about hard work being a two time state qualifier and a state place winner from Mediapolis. The team really appreciates him, and he is a great fit for Nevada.
