The Nevada High School volleyball freshman coach for 2019 is Zach Lillquist. He is very proud of the girls and their accomplishments and how much they have gotten stronger and how hard they work already this season.
The team is 5-2 for the season so far. The team has beaten Perry, Roland-Story, and Saydel and lost to North Polk and Gilbert.
Emma De Penning is getting stronger as a setter from the work she put in this summer,” said Coach Lillquist.
Lily Goos leads the team and kills as a middle hitter and following are Sheiann Flores, and Alexis Bartmess. Avery Hinson and Gabby Joe have been getting good reps in at outside hitter.
“Our defense is led by Stephanie Lopez and Chloe Peterson,” said Coach Lillquist. “They have been passing well as the girls spend a lot of time doing serve-receive drills in practice.”
Lopez is out right now for medical reasons, and the team is very excited for her return.
Coach Lillquist also was very happy with the play of his sophomores.
“Sheiann is such a ray of positive on and off the court for us. She is always working hard and has one of the best serves on the team,” said Lillquist. “And Alexis Bartmess is a tall force for us at the net.”
The team plays North Polk at home tonight, Monday, September 30.
