On Friday, May 17th, the JV boys soccer team played the Newton Cardinals in Newton. It was a great game to watch.
The boys played great defense and kept the team together. They knew Newton was a talented team and playing good defense would be a big part of the game. They all knew teamwork would hold them together to make sure that they didn’t fall apart, and they did just that. The Cubs kept the Cardinals at zero. The boys got into some scoring positions but weren’t able to finish like they wanted to.
“We played well against a very skilled and athletic Newton team,” said Coach Matt Myers. “We did well to hold our own getting into the attacking third and creating opportunities to score the ball. Unfortunately we couldn’t net one and ended in a 0-0 draw. Max Hoffman played keeper for us and had a couple incredible saves ensuring the 0-0 draw.”
The JV boys ended the season with many ties and very few losses.
