The JV girls soccer team had a chance to participate in a round robin with Perry and PCM on May 13. The Cubs played two great games and won both.
` The Cubs dominated most of the game against Perry. They started the game with two quick goals by Hailee Weber and Paige Solie. Alex Arnaud contributed a hattrick for the game. Kelly Beals and Katelyn Kingsbury had the assists for two of the goals.
The girls continued to connect their passes and made sure to always win 50/50 balls. The final score was Nevada 8 and Perry 0.
The second game the Cubs played was against PCM. They had previously played PCM, so they knew what their strengths and weaknesses were. The team started off strong, and it was a good game to watch. The girls made sure passes were staying connected like in the first game and making sure they got to feet. The Cubs had a few shots on goal and finally were able to take the lead. Nevada possessed most of the game and had many shots.
“The team played really well in controlling all aspects of the game including possession, shots, and shots on goal,” said Coach Mark Rhodes. “Our passing and movement off the ball wasn’t as sharp early in the match which made it more difficult to get into attacking positions. This improved in the second half which allowed to take more control over the game. We were able to get off seven shots with three of those being on goal.”
