On Wednesday, May 22, the Cubs’ softball team kicked off their season with a 11-3 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden.
The Cubs played great defense throughout the contest, which was a huge contributing factor to the win.
Led by freshman Makayla Spaid, the pitching from the Cubs was excellent. Spaid went four innings giving up just five hits and two bases on balls.
After a slow start, the Cub bats came alive, highlighted by Madison McGaffin’s five RBIs and a fourth inning home run from Sydney Mosinski.
Coach John Bass said, “The girls played a really complete game tonight. They played well in all aspects of the game, and it was a complete team win.”
Following the victory, the girls move to 1-0 on the season and hope to expand on their defensive and offensive efforts.
