On Monday, May 20, the girls varsity soccer team took on Gilbert at Cub Stadium. The weather was a little chilly and gloomy out, which really weren’t great soccer conditions.
The girls weren’t in-sync and had an off night. Nevada fought hard but Gilbert capitalized on important opportunities to win the game. Gilbert came out on top 5-0.
Coach Randy Davis said, “Tough game last night. Gilbert is a good team that took advantage of their opportunities. We didn’t seem to be firing on all cylinders. We just could put things together for long enough spurts to get ourselves out of trouble. Hopefully we learn from it, put it behind us and get better because of it. Savannah Skaggs played really well in the second half trying to connect our defense and offense and giving us stretches of consistency.”
The girls move to 11-4 on the season. Grinnell comes to town for the first game of regional play on May 28.
