The Nevada boys varsity soccer team played at Gilbert on May 11. They lost 0-5. Goalkeeper Gage Maiefski had four saves on the day.
There wasn’t a lot of offense during game. Jose Buenrrostro, Chase Lycke, and Ayden Rhodes combined for a total of five shots and shots on goal.
Jack Cahill said, “We didn’t come ready to play and we couldn’t connect on a lot of passes. It was a cold rainy game.”
Coach Todd Sampson said, “We struggled against Gilbert. They are a great team and the weather conditions were poor that day. We had a hard time creating shots and scoring opportunities that game. Our communication and ball movement needed to be better for us to have success against them. We knew it would be a tough game going into it, but expected to have a better showing than we did. We will learn from our mistakes and improve in the areas necessary to have a great end to our season”
The Cubs play in the district finals at noon on Saturday, May 25, against North Polk at North Polk High School in Alleman.
