On Friday, May 10, the girls track team headed to Gilbert for the district track meet. The girls had a nice night for their races and field events, though it was a little chilly.
Kacie Rewerts finished second for the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:04.22 and was an automatic qualifier for the state track meet at Drake next weekend.
The 4×100 team, Samara Sharp, Emily Plate, Caitlyn Sharp, and Hannah Thomsen placed third with a time of 52.06. This time earned the team their way to state.
Eleanor Elliot Rude placed third in the long jump with a distance of 15’02”.
Addi Vorm placed third for the discus with a distance of 106’06”.
Vorm also threw fourth in the shot put, but still qualified for the state track meet with a PR throw of 35 feet, 7 ½ inches.
The distance medley relay team of Caitlyn Sharp, Sydney Mosinski, Thomsen, and Rewerts, finished third with a time of 4:24.54, which also qualified them for state.
Kacie Rewerts commented, “Our performance as a team at districts really showed all of our hard work that we had put in the entire season. It was a lot of fun to watch many teammates get personal bests in multiple events. Luckily, the weather was perfect so that we were able to perform at our best and get some events to State this year!”
Nevada is participating at the state track meet in Des Moines May 16-18.
