On Saturday, May 4th, Nevada’s girls JV team took on IC Regina at Cub Stadium on a wonderful day. It was really sunny, and the temperature was perfect for a soccer game.
The girls had low numbers for the game, so there were two 20 minute halves. The Cub’s came out on top in a hard-fought victory.
Alex Arnaud scored the winning goal from a great assist from Avery Bartholomew. There were nine shots taken, and four on goal that afternoon.
Kelly Beals was fouled inside the penalty area and was awarded with a penalty kick, which was just wide of the goal.
Mark Rhodes spoke very high on the girls’ performance and their growth over the season. Rhodes commented, “The team continues to play well game in and game out. We have been really pleased with the continued growth of this group throughout the season. The key really seems to be this group’s ability to play together as a team and everyone doing their part, which contributes to the overall improvement of the team. Everyone defends when we don’t have the ball and that allows us to win the ball back higher up the field so we can get right into our attack. We continue to see the details we work on in practice come out in the games which is what you want to see as a coach.”
The JV team hosts North Polk at Cub Stadium on Tuesday, May 14.
