The Nevada Cubs JV girls soccer team traveled to Clear Lake Tuesday, April 30th, for a game although weather limited them to only 20 minutes of play. The girls were victorious with a final score of two to zero.
The first goal came from Hailee Weber who scored following a deflected corner kick off of an opposing player.
Soon after Paige Solie scored another goal following a steal from a Clear Lake player. She then got a nice shot off the keeper wasn’t able to get to.
All in all the team got off seven shots in the short game which was seen as a huge positive.
Defensively the girls were strong. Keeper Izzy-Humpal Pash was left pressureless with Clear Lake getting no shots off throughout the course of the game.
Coach Mark Rhodes said, “The girls played really well given the wet conditions that night.”
In the end, it was a very strong effort given the undesirable conditions and lack of time for the team.
Moving forward the team will look to continue their offensive energy and play with more improvements. They host North Polk on Tuesday, May 14, at Cub Stadium.
