The Varsity boys track team placed third, with 129.5 points, on Thursday, May 2nd, at home at the Heart of Iowa Conference Track Meet.
“I was disappointed that we did not win the meet, considering we were 7.5 points short, but extremely proud of the many fine performances by the boys,” said Coach John Pelzer.
Nevada placed high in multiple events, including
-first place in the 100 meter dash, ran by Joven Nelson, with a time of 11.08.
-second place in the 200 meter dash, ran by Caeden DaSilva, with a 22.81
-third place in the 400 meter dash, ran by DaSilva, with a time of 51.67
-first place in the 800 meter run, ran by Jacob Sanders, with a time of 2:07.56
-fourth place in the 3200 meter run, ran by Dalton Baker, with a time of 10:26.47
-first place in the 400 meter hurdles, ran by Nelson, with a time of 52.69.
Myleek Wilkerson placed third in the high jump, with 5-05. Sam Abraham placed fourth in the long jump, with a 19-05. Nevada placed first in the 4×100 Meter relay, with a time 44.43. The team was second in the 4×200 Meter relay, with a time of 1.35.04. The 4×400 meter relay placed first with a time of 3.29.50. The 800 meter sprint medley relay also won with a time of 1:38.15.
An event deserving a honorable mention was Joven Nelson’s performance in the 400 low hurdles. He broke his own school record, set a conference record, and ran the best low hurdle time in the state in any class.
