On Monday, April 29th, the Nevada girls track team traveled to North Polk for a one class co-ed track meet. This was one of the girls’ last meets prior to state qualifying week, and a large part of the team began to peak at just the right time.
Highlights of the meet Included Kacie Rewerts 3000 meter run win, and runner up finish in the 1500 meter run, and Bailey Crain’s third place overall finish in the discus throw.
Other Individual highlights went to Elie Tuhn in the 800 meter run. Elie placed fourth out of 14. Tuhn also placed fourth in the 1500 meter run.
This concluded the top places for the girls track team, although several other relays ran well and Coach Johnson was proud of the team all the way around.
As a team the girls were able to place third overall with 79 points just beating out Ames JV team who had 76.5 points. The other teams the Cubs placed above included Collins-Maxwell, Greene County, South Hamilton, and Woodward Academy.
Moving forward, the girls compete at the state qualifying district meet at Gilbert.
