On Tuesday night, April 2, the Nevada girls track team traveled to ADM for a co-ed one class meet. The girls had lots of personal records set and many of the relays and individuals who have found success early on continued their good stretches.
Some highlights of the meet were in Kacie Rewerts second place and first place finish in the 1500 and 3000 meter races and Addi Vorm’s discus win and third place finish in shot.
To start off the night, the Cubs’ sprint medley team placed sixth overall. Then following Kacie’s win in the 3000, the Cubs’ 4×800 ran a time of 13:12.
The next event up was the shuttle hurdle relay in which the girls placed sixth with a time of 1:24.
Nevada’s distance medley ran a time of 5.41.81 for a sixth place finish overall.
Following the distance medley, Elie Tuhn placed eighth in the open 400 with a time of 1:19.73.
Nevada’s 4×200 ran next, finishing with a time of 2:16.91 and placing 12th overall out of a very strong field.
In the open 200 meter dash, Shelbi Hazlitt, Lesly Abarca, and Eleanor Elliott-Rude were the top three entries for the Cubs, Hazlitt finishing with a time of 29:93, Elliott-Rude running a time of 32.59, and Abarca finishing in 32.87.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Samara Sharp led the Cub girls with a time of 18.48, placing 11th overall.
Taylor Conrad competed for Nevada in the 400 low hurdles in a time of 1:27.18. Following the 400 hurdles, Rewerts ran an excellent 1500 and finished second overall with a time of 5:19, just three second behind the winning time.
In the 4×400 meter relay, Nevada placed eighth overall amongst a strong field and finished in a time of 5.15.24.
Finally, the girls open 100 meter dash featured 12 Nevada runners. The top three finishers for the Cubs were Hannah Thomsen, Caitlyn Sharp, and Tessa Borwick.
Thomsen placed ninth overall with a 14.02, Sharp placed ninth with a 14.02, and Borwick completed with a time of 14.19.
In the field events, Vorm led the Cubs with her third and first place finishes. In the shot put, Vorm threw an exceptional 103’ 4”, and she threw 31’-10.50” in the discus competition.
Bailey Crain also threw very well with a discus throw of 72’.
In the shot put, Madison McGaffin followed Vorm, throwing 26’ 01”.
Coach Johnson was very impressed with the girls’ meet and was happy to see so many improvements.
