On Monday, February 18th, the Nevada Cubs boys eighth grade basketball team played two games against the Roland-Story Norsemen eighth graders.
In the first game the Nevada boys played well but fell just short in a hard loss with the score of 25-27. The game came down the the wire, but in the end, missed critical free throws were what set the two teams apart.
Coach Corey Barloon said, “If we had hit some of our missed free throws the game may have ended differently.”
The A team’s leading scorer was Carson Rhodes.
In the second contest the boys fell, but stayed in the game until the end. Coach Barloon was proud of their overall effort and believed that they played hard and quite well.
A major high point in the game was the Cubs’ effort in the paint with rebounding and defense.
Following this contest, the Cubs’ season ended last week. The coaches were very proud of the team’s growth, effort, and attitudes. Moving forward, the Cub boys look to continue to grow and play well.
