On Tuesday, February 19, the seventh grade boys basketball D team walked away with two great wins against Roland-Story. They played one full game and then a half of a game in one night.
The final score for the first game was 24-13. In the first quarter they started off strong scoring ten points to Roland Story’s three. In the second quarter they kept their lead scoring five more points. Roland story scored six more points, ending the half with the Cubs in the lead with a score of 15-9. The third quarter had less points and they ended with 17-11. The Cubs scored seven more points in the fourth quarter and Roland Story only scored two.
Ryan Brown scored five points and had the only three pointer of the game. Vincent Conrad also had five points. Carter Holland and Parker Peterson both had four points. Garrett Barber, Rhett Harter and Aden Bearden all scored two points.
“The first quarter the boys did a good job with executing and staying patient with the offense to get good looks. Iit was also fun seeing how many different scorers we had,” said Coach Cary Thompson.
In the same nigh,t the seventh grade boys also played a half of a game. In the first quarter the Cubs scored four points. In the second quarter the Cubs scored ten more points ending the game with a final score of 14-0.
Vincent Conrad was the leading scorer with eight points. Garrett Barber had three points. Aden Bearden and Carter Holland scored two points. Mike Butterfield led the defensive charge with three steals.
“The boys were very good on ball defense and were good with rotations,” said Coach Thompson.
These two games put the D team’s winning record at 4-0.
