On Monday, February 4, PCM got the win against the Nevada varsity girls basketball team. It was a close game and both teams fought hard until the end. The score was 33-37.
The girls started the game strong scoring 11 points in the first quarter with PCM only scoring six. In the second quarter the Cubs continued their lead by scoring another eight points. The score at the end of the first half was 19-8.
In the third quarter PCM fought back against the Cubs scoring 11 points to the Cubs’ five points. In the fourth quarter Nevada only scored six points and PCM scored another 11 points, tying the game up at 30-30.
The game then went into overtime but the Cubs only scored three more points to PCM’s seven.
Kacie Rewerts was the leading scorer for the Cubs scoring 12 points. Following her was Amelea Jones with eight points.
“We played a very good game all the way to the end. We did a great job on defense shutting down their leading scorer, but in the end we committed too many turnovers at the wrong time,” said Coach Jordan Bentley.
This game put the Nevada varsity girls basketball at 7-13 for the season. Their season has since ended with a loss to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows on February 9.
