On Monday, February 4, the Nevada Cubs 9th grade boys basketball team took on the South Hamilton Hawks in a conference matchup. The Cubs snuck by with a win, 61-53.
The leading scorer for the Cubs was Connor Schnettgoecke with 19. James Edwards followed close behind Schnettgoecke with 17. Spencer Grant had a solid 10 points for the night as well.
The Cubs played a close game through the 2nd quarter, with a score of 14-13. The Cubs came out of half time ready to play and went on a 30-15 run. The full court press was really working and gave the Cubs a much needed bost to finish the night.
“Our ‘D’ really played well,” said Coach Jon Kruse. “It took a little while to get them going, but once they did, we really played some great ball.”
The next boys JV game is Friday, February 8th, vs North Polk at the Nevada High School fieldhouse.
