The Nevada varsity girls basketball team had an exciting game against the Newton Cardinals on Tuesday, January 8. The game was back and forth through every minute as both teams pushed for the advantage and lead.
The game ended up 42-39 after some heart wrenchingly close overtimes and tense free throws.
The game ended in double overtime with a hard fought Cub victory. Lock down defense and some key steals helped turn the game, but ultimately it was Kacie Rewerts and Amanda Fortman who hit key free throws late in the game to send them to overtime and to seal the deal in the end.
Some top players for the night were Kacie Rewerts with a Double-Double, 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Addi Vorm, who had 11 points and was three for four from the line.
