The Nevada boys JV basketball team had a great victory over Saydel on Tuesday, December 4. The final score of the game was Cubs 68-Eagles 31. The Cubs’ leading scorers were Henry Nelson with 11, Chase Lycke with 10, James Edward with nine, and Cooper Bovee with eight.
Top rebounders of the night were Ben Rima 10, Caden Jones eight, Connor Schnettgoecke with five.
“Defensively we held them at 31 points, which is good. Our defensive goal is to always hold the other team under 40 points,” said Coach Greg Baethke.
Offensively, it was the most points the team has put up this year.
“We need to work on the offense being more fluid, moving more. Defensively we need to work to get better on guarding the player with the ball,” said Coach Baethke.
The Cubs’ record is 3-1.
Their next game is on Tuesday, December 18 at Wells Fargo in Des Moines against the Greene County Rams.
