On December 3rd, the Nevada Cubs 8th grade girl basketball team played against Greene County at Jefferson. They won the game with the score of 38-16.
I spoke with Coach Cary Thompson, and he said, ¨It was a very tight first quarter. As a matter of fact, it was tied six to six. Our defense did a great job in the second quarter. We out scored them 7-0 in that stretch of the game. At half time, the score was 13-6. In the third quarter, both teams scored seven points each. In the fourth quarter, the Cubs out scored the Rams 7-2.”
¨I was really happy with the way we executed some of our call plays and defensive rotations,” summarized Coach Thompson.
The scorers for the A Team were as follows; Bridget Cahill-10 points, Avery Hinson-14 points, Natalie Barber-eight points, Josie Kelly- four points, and Lily Goos- two points.
The A Team overall record is 2-4.
The B Team played a two-quarter game. With only one minute to go in the game, the Rams had a couple big buckets to win 8-3
Kaleigh Groat was the only player who scored for the Cubs in the B game. She had all three points.
The B team overall record is 2-4.
The Cubs next game will be against Gilbert at home on Monday, December 10.
