On Tuesday, December 3rd, the Nevada Cubs 7th grade girls basketball team showed Greene County what they could do in an outstanding win in the A game, 21-15!
Early in the match, the girls ran the court starting off with a 7-0 lead. The girls pressed Greene County quick causing them to panic and turn over the ball. Greene County caught on and went straight into a zone defense, which slowed the game down quite a bit. The offensive looks towards the post player under the hoop is what kept the Cubs ahead the whole game. They ran two different offenses and succeeded in running both.
“The girls need to work on squaring up to the hoop and going up strong, but other then that I’m proud of them. They played really hard and did as they were asked. They fought their hardest and the outcome was positive,” said Coach Corey Long.
In the second game, the Cubs showed up again, winning 16-6. The Cubs ran the offenses really well again and played really hard defense. They didn’t allow much scoring which got everyone really hyped up.
“Once again the girls are playing really hard and doing everything, but they just need to work on finishing,” said Coach Long.
The Cubs’ A team currently has a 4-3 record, and the B team has a 7-0 record.
Come support our Cubs at their last four games because they have played these teams before and are hoping for revenge! Their next game is at Gilbert on Monday, December 10. Go Cubs!
