The Nevada freshman girls basketball team had a phenomenal win on Monday, November 19, over the South Hamilton Hawks! The girls had an insane lead against the Hawks the whole game and were up 17-2 going into the second quarter. The final score of the game was a whopping 43-18.
This was the freshman girls’ first game of the season. Their leading scorer was Maddie Dunham with 10 and the second leading scorer was Hannah Waldera with seven.
The defense is what kept this game alive. The Cubs started pressing early, getting most of their points at the beginning of the game. After the Hawks picked up on the press, the Cubs jumped into a 2-3 zone defense and kept the paint protected.
“We played an excellent overall game and really did well on a few things we didn’t practice as much. It’s hard to find much to be critical about in a game like this,” said Coach Scott Uthe.
