The 7th grade girls basketball team played their first game on the road at Greene County on Thursday, November 15th. The girls finished off their night with two wins, a win for the first team and a win for the second team.
The first game was very offensive. Running the offense and making baskets were easy jobs for the girls, and they were able to stay ahead the entire game because of that.
“On defense we did a great job staying on the girl we were guarding and did a nice job intercepting the pass for a steal,” said Coach Corey Long.
The girls also worked on various inbound passes as well, preparing for future games that may be tougher. With the girls’ aggressiveness, and their hustling, it helped increase their lead greatly. The first game ended with a score of 46-3.
“I liked the way that we hustled after every ball. We had a lot of girls on the floor last night!” said Coach Long.
Meanwhile, they did amazing job at intercepting passes and guarding. Each player was able to play and make at least one basket in the game, and all played a crucial part in their defeat.
The second game ended with a score of 32-0 and a win as well, making the night a very successful one.
The team as a whole hopes to improve on their rebound skills and staying strong when grabbing the ball during the upcoming games.
The girls now have an overall 2-0 record on the season and play their next game on November 26th at North Polk.
