On Tuesday November, 13, the 7th grade girls basketball team played at home against Gilbert. Nevada won both games: 20-17, 24-17.
In the first half, Nevada was trailing 4-9 at half time. They were relaxed for the second half and out scored Gilbert 15-8.
“They relaxed and played much better in the second half, out scoring Gilbert 15-8,” said Coach Corey Long. “We did a nice job running our offense the entire game, and the ball finally started to fall in during the second half. But, we still struggled with being aggressive on the boards and securing rebounds.”
In the second game, Nevada beat Gilbert, 24-17. After falling behind in the first quarter, they fought hard in the second quarter and ended up leading 14-11 at half time.
“Overall, I thought both games were great considering these was our first game of the season. I thought all the girls played hard and did a lot of good things,” Coach Long said. “I hope that as we have a few more practices and gain some game playing experience, we will play even better as the season goes on.”
The Nevada 7th grade girls basketball play at North Polk next Monday at North Polk Middle School in Alleman.
