Tuesday, October 2, was a very rough night for our Nevada Cubs 7th grade football team. The young Cubs traveled to Roland-Story. This game was a tough one because Roland Story’s speed and size were a lot for the Cubs to overcome. The game resulted in a loss, 56-22.
The Cubs played hard throughout the game which resulted in scoring three touchdowns on the night. Unfortunately, some plays were less consistent than others.
The top performers were Kasin Stevenson and Alek Higgins. They both had a great night! Kasin had two rushing touchdowns and threw a touchdown to Alek Higgins. Their final touchdown was a rushing touchdown by Breshawn Williams.
One of the concerns that the coaches had was how the young Cubs handled adversity. “We need to show more effort once things get tough. We need to regain some of our confidence. Even though we are down a player or two, we need to play through the adversity and keep fighting,” said Coach Karl Corbin.
Hopefully, the Cubs will continue executing their big plays and grow from the adversity as they travel to their final contest against Saydel on Thursday, October 11. Go Cubs!
