The Nevada varsity volleyball girls crushed the Greene County Rams on Thursday, October 4.
During game one the Cubs were a little flat while playing. The Rams took it to the Cubs with their serving and Nevada couldn’t make good returns. The Cubs squeaked out a win 25-18.
In game two, the Cubs demolished the Rams, winning 25-7. The Cubs got in their groove and started playing typical Cubs volleyball. Ellie Gray had a nice serving run early in the second game that set the tone for the whole match. The Cubs passing game got a lot better and that let the setters and hitters have great offensive choices.
In game three, the Cubs kept up their fast pace and won 25-11.
Hitter Kacie Rewards had another great night with 16 kills, along with Sydney Mosinski with seven kills and eight blocks. Greene County’s big hitters really slowed down after Sydney’s big blocks.
The Cubs set a year high record of 13 aces and served at 97% from the line. The Cub’s backline defense was led by Ellie Gray and Jaeden Heintz with 10 and eight digs respectively.
Coach Stephenson said “Of course there are a lot of things to work on, but we’re really looking forward to finishing out the rest of the regular season next week and preparing for regional play on October 17.
The Cubs will play next on Tuesday, October 9, at home against Gilbert.
