The Nevada Cubs volleyball team are in the hunt for first place in the conference with a win last Tuesday against the PCM Mustangs. It was a night where the players were relaxed and could try different things and still get the win.
“We wanted to play good volleyball – scrappy defense and organized, fast offense,” said Coach Lori Stephenson.
The first game started with the Cubs down 1-3, but recovered quickly with Ellie Gray starting a 23 point serving run. PCM did not respond to Nevada’s momentum build, and the next two games were Nevada all the way. With the near-perfect play from the Cubs, several of the players were able to meet their personal goals with certain attacks and serving percentages.
Kacie Rewerts had 16 kills and no errors in 21 attacks. Kacie, Mikayla Long, Kelby Rewerts, Morgan Tupper, and Sydney Mosinski all had outstanding kill numbers and kill efficiency. The team had an awesome kill efficiency of .567 and 10 aces.
The Cubs will take this momentum into Thursday’s game against another conference rival, the Greene County Rams, in Jefferson.
