On Friday, September 21st, the Nevada Cubs played the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings for homecoming. The Cubs beat the Vikings, 28-21. This was closer than it should’ve been, but the Cubs played great!
Jacob Strottman, Kody Kruschwitz, and Andrew Saunders all scored touchdowns for the Cubs. Saunders and Strottman had receiving touchdowns. Kruschwitz and Strottman had the rushing touchdowns of the night.
A major highlight of the night was that this win against Vinton-Shellsburg was Nevada’s first homecoming win in nine years. Another highlight was that Nevada was up the whole game, and kept the “pedal to the metal” the entire night.
“The first half the defense held Vinton-Shellsburg to seven points, the second half they had a couple of break away plays which led them to score 14 more points, but overall defense played pretty well,” said sophomore Ayden Rhodes.
The Cubs’ next game is at Benton Community against them on Friday, September 28th. Come watch!
