On Thursday, September 20, the Nevada boys and girls cross country team had a meet in Roland Story. The Nevada boys ran well and placed sixth out of 16 teams. The girls had an outstanding race and placed second out of 14 teams.
For the guys, senior Dalton Baker had the best time of the night for the Cubs, with a time of 18:18. Four of the top seven for Nevada did not start or finish the race. “But on a positive note, we still beat ten teams without four of our best guys,” said Coach Mike Christiansen. “We really thought we could be second in this meet, but just was not our night.”
The girls placed really well at the meet. Freshman Elie Tuhn had the best time for the girls, with a time of 22:19, Junior Eliana Hornbuckle finished fourth, right behind Elie, with a time of 22:20.
“The team ran really well as a whole,” Christiansen said about the girls. The Cubs put five scorers in the top 21 runners.
The Cubs will compete in their next meet on Saturday, September 29, in Eldora.
