On Thursday, September 13th, the Nevada Varsity Volleyball team played their first away conference game of the season at Saydel. The team swept the Eagles 3-0, with scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-4.
The team had an amazing night for serving, ending the night with a 97% serving efficiency and 17 aces. Morgan Tupper lead the Cubs with five aces, with Jaeden Heintz and Ellie Gray close behind her with four aces.
It was also a great night for hitting for a few of the Cubs. Mikayla Long had an outstanding performance at the net with four blocks, six kills, and no errors, closing off the game with a .600 kill efficiency. Alongside her, Hannah Thomsen also had a fantastic night with six kills and only one error, and Kacie Rewerts had six kills.
Morgan Tupper had 10 assists, and Amanda Fortmann concluded the game with 12. The Cubs’ libero Ellie Gray picked up 15 digs on the night as well.
“Overall, I thought the team did a nice job of controlling their momentum and working on some specific plays. It’s easy to play flat against a team that doesn’t provide much of a challenge, but the girls all played with a lot of energy and focus,” said Coach Lori Stephenson.
