On Friday, August 31, the Nevada varsity football team played at Greene County. They lost a hard fought game, 38-10.
Andrew Saunders was able to score the one touchdown that Nevada had against Greene County. Jakob Strottman led the team in tackles with a total of ten.
Junior quarterback, Kody Kruschwitz said, “We moved the ball very well at times and showed that our team can convert and make plays, although, we need to improve on the little mistakes such as holding and other penalties.”
“We made some explosive plays and gave ourselves opportunities. Unfortunately, we had trouble capitalizing when we had those opportunities,” said Coach Andrew Kleeman.
Sophomore linebacker, Ayden Rhodes said, “Defensively, we had good stops and forced them to kick a field goal in the first half. They had breakaway plays that allowed them to score, mostly little errors.”
The defeat brings the Cubs’ record to 0-2. Up next, Nevada will be playing Perry at home on Friday, September 7.
