On May 18 the Nevada boys went to Storm Lake for the substate golf meet. The Cubs shot a 312 to finish first overall to qualify for the state tournament to be held May 24 and 25. Harold Dobenecker shot a 74 and was runner up at the meet. Dylan Sporrer finished fourth.
“There were four holes that I thought would be difference makers at the meet. The guys stuck to the game plan and managed those holes better than any of the other teams,” said Coach Ryan Brown.
The Cubs played very well against MOC Floyd Valley. They were ranked number one in the state statistically, and Floyd Valley had much more experience on this course.
“This was an excellent example of the talent and depth that we have, but more importantly a great reflection of the young men on our team. They have put team success before their own individual success all season,” said Coach Brown.
