With soccer starting, Assistant Coach Justin Evans is in charge of working with the JV girls during their games. Not only that, but he is also in charge of the goalies and working with the defense on varsity as well. For the goalies, they work a lot on footwork, positioning, and catching, while there is also lots of work done individually.
The goals that Coach Evans wants to achieve this season are to get better every day, win a conference championship, make it to state, compete for a title, and also have fun and enjoy each moment while trying to obtain the goals.
While having those goals are important, Coach Evans also has some concerns.
“I am worried that we will not enjoy the journey,” said Coach Evans. “With all the success we have had in soccer over the past years, there are high expectations. I worry that if we fall short of the goals, we will not consider the season a success. And if we are too focused on the end prize, we will forget to enjoy the journey. I think we have a very good team that is capable of great things, but we need to remember to enjoy every day and not be too focused on the end.”
